The Parroquia Santa Lucía Tomatlán was built in the 17th century, in this town, originally from the current Azcapotzalco municipality. It was listed as a Historic Monument by INAH in 1959.
After the 2017 earthquakes, it suffered serious damage and partial collapse of its roof, aggravated by constant humidity and lack of maintenance. The parish was a beneficiary of the National Reconstruction Program with the project and restructuring work commissioned to e c o and Fundarq. The work consisted of the controlled release of the damaged roof and its reintegration with the original construction system of wooden beams, clay “petatillo” and lime mortar, as well as its subsequent waterproofing. In the same way, the belfry was structurally consolidated for the correct fastening of its bells.
