In what was Colonia Americana since 1886 and became Colonia Juárez in 1906, the building located on Marsella Street is a clear example of the “urban-architectural” aspirations of the first years of the 20th century in Mexico. In this building constructed by architects José G. De la Lama and Erghard Zwicker, the influence of European urbanism and architecture, particularly French, can also be appreciated. It has been listed since 1982 by INBAL as “relevant architecture”, outstanding for its scale, its integration with the urban layout and its “representativeness”. The e c o team was commissioned to carry out the restoration and restructuring project after it suffered significant damage to its stability from the September 2017 earthquakes.
