In the 17th century, in one of the original towns of the current Azcatpozalco municipality, the Iglesia San Francisco Xocotitla was built. A few decades after its creation, it was rebuilt after earthquake damage. Until 1959 it was catalogued as a Historic Monument by the INAH (National Institute of Anthropology and History).
As a result of the recent 2017 earthquakes and as part of the National Reconstruction Program, e c o –together with Fundarq– developed the project and restoration work of the building. The intervention consisted of consolidation, plastering and finishing with materials compatible with the original ones. The work was carried out on the entrance doorway, the arch of the atrial wall, the side wall, the choir and the façade of the portal.
