TEMPLO SAN PEDRO OZUMACÍN

Commissioned by the Centro INAH Oaxaca, e c o was asked to carry out the restoration projects of three temples damaged by the 2017 earthquakes in the sierra chinanteca, in the north of the state of Oaxaca. The main characteristic of the architecture of the sierra consists of an architectural party of a single nave with a choir and sotocoro at the access and wooden gabled roof supported by two walls of stone from the region and clay. In the case of the three temples, many of the materials were modified over time.

The temple of San Pedro Ozumacín has the particularity of still having several of the characteristic elements of the area such as an important main altarpiece, a triumphal arch that precedes the presbytery and remains of the original polychrome wooden soffit.

Based on the structural damage diagnosis, the e c o team prepared a report on each of the building's constituent elements in order to propose a comprehensive restoration project.
